NOW AND THEN
CLARK BEAUMONT

12 – 26 March, 2016

Now and Then presents new performance-video installations by CLARK BEAUMONT that wrestle with the largely private, and complex spaces of lived experience. In the exhibition, the artists perform in a series of vignettes that explore the transient states of discomfort, connection and disconnection, disassociation, and frustration. Through physically and technologically simulating these emotional headspaces, the artists attempt to better understand themselves, and how they relate to others.

ROOM SHEET

CLARK BEAUMONT have presented live performances, videos and installations, nationally and internationally since 2010. Notably, in 2013, the collaboration exhibited work in Kaldor Public Art Project’s 13 Rooms, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist & Klaus Biesenbach. In 2014, they held a solo exhibition at Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, were selected as the QAGOMA Melville Haysom Memorial Art Scholarship recipient, and received Highly Commended at the Churchie National Emerging Art Prize. Recently, they have presented live performances at the Institute of Modern Art [Brisbane], the Australian Experimental Art Foundation [Adelaide], Monash University Museum of Art [Melbourne] and Queensland University of Technology Art Museum as part of Performance Now, curated by Roselee Goldberg. This year, the duo will exhibit in GOMA Q: Queensland Contemporary Art at The Gallery of Modern Art.
