OPEN STUDIO
JORDAN AZCUNE
SUMMER ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
WHEN: 20 Jan | 2019
COST: FREE
TIME: 4 - 6PM
Join us for Jordan’s open studio event and artist talk. We’ll be chatting about the work he has been developing at THE WALLS over Summer for a forthcoming major solo exhibition hosted by HASSELL Architects Brisbane Studio as part of the Asia Pacific Architecture Forum in 2019. Refreshments will be provided.
Jordan will be using the back drop of the Gold Coast to expand his current research into gold line drawings inspired from a Christian/Orthodox vernacular of design and belief. Jordan has been working with Byzantine Iconographer, Senior Australian Artist, and Blake Prize Winner Leonard Brown. Leonard is advising Jordan in the theological complexities and material technicalities for gold applications.
Jordan Azcune is an emerging visual artist based in Queensland whose work has been included in exhibitions at the Gallery of Modern Art, Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, Redlands City Art Gallery, Stable ARI, Outerspace ARI, and Cut Thumb ARI. In 2016 Azcune graduated with honours at Queensland University of Technology and has since been working along side artist Lincoln Austin, assisting in his studio and learning principles of public art. In 2018 Azcune won the Toowoomba Emerging Art Prize, and was highly commended for the work White Caps at Swell Sculpture Festival.
This project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Urban Art Projects (UAP).
