Elements situates four contemporary art works around the HOTA parklands, each work interpreting one of four life elements: Air, Earth, Fire and Water. Curated by Gold Coast artist and curator Rebecca Ross for The Walls Art Space, the artworks act as a collective mirror to the site and to ourselves, inviting the viewer to reflect, explore, engage, to flow, to find stillness and to listen out among the elements.

Kinly Grey’s air work blurs the lines between natural and manmade environments and phenomena, constantly shifting the viewer’s position and experience via the changing atmosphere of the work. Jordan Azcune’s ‘earth’ work digs deep into themes of architecture, the quotidian, and larger ideas of optimism. Agents of Confusion’s ‘fire’ work continues their interest in summer rituals by turning up the heat on the site’s barbeques with a performative exploration of food, desire and identity. Michael Candy’s ‘water’ work, framed by both lake and waterways employs new media and sound to examine ecological and social systems.
