LAST SUNDAYS
MEAT MIRROR

WHEN: 20 Jun | 2021

COST: FREE

TIME: 4-5PM

LAST SUNDAYS is our monthly event program celebrating the final day of each exhibition.

Exhibition open for viewing 12-5pm.

Live at THE WALLS, join us and artists JAY YOUNGER and LISA O’NEILL for a final closing performance of MEAT MIRROR.

The performance will be followed by an open reflection session with the artists and young artist mentees Chelsea O’Brien and Cara Coombe to discuss the work and to take a more in-depth look at ‘the toxic mirror of social media’.

Meat Mirror critically addresses the alarming normalisation of surgical enhancement. This performance activated installation features a multimedia aquatic installation punctuated by programmed performances. Wrapped in the Suburban Gothic’s paradoxical sugarcoated grotesque, Meat Mirror poetically juxtaposes natural against digital worlds as well as butchery against beauty and mixes Orwellian satire, MGM aquamusicals, and Schlock Horror genres.

Free event!
Hosted by MINDY DAVIES

This event will also be live-streamed via Instagram @thewallsgc

This LAST SUNDAYS program forms part of JAY YOUNGER’s and LISA O’NEILL’s exhibition MEAT MIRROR at THE WALLS from 5 – 20 JUNE, 2021.
